In honor of Black History Month, Miami BNA in collaboration with Jessie Trice Community Health Center, Inc. co-hosted the Sankofa event to commemorate our Elders, Nurse Pioneers, Past Presidents/Trailblazers, and Military Nurses who have paved the way for the Black Nurses of South Florida. These Nurse Pioneers have left a legacy in the nursing profession that will live on forever.
Sankofa teaches us that we must go back to our roots in order to move forward. That is, we should reach back and gather the best of what our past has to teach us, so that we can achieve our full potential as we move forward. Whatever we have lost, forgotten, forgone, or been stripped of can be reclaimed, revived, preserved and perpetuate. http://www.duboislc.net/SankofaMeaning/html
